Adam Lacko took his 12th win of the season at Le Mans Bugatti this afternoon after snatching the lead at the first corner in his Buggyra International Racing System run Freightliner
Adam Lacko took his 12th win of the season at Le Mans Bugatti this afternoon after snatching the lead at the first corner in his Buggyra International Racing System run Freightliner. It was the perfect way to celebrate his 33rd birthday!
The Czech champion elect was able to hold-off the determined SL Trucksport MAN driven by Sascha Lenz, who pressured Lacko all the way to the chequered flag and finish just over one second behind his rival.
Lenz, who took pole position for the race, was desperate to win his first FIA ETRC event but will have to wait another day after just being denied by Lacko.
The top four of Lacko, Lenz, Jochen Hahn (Hahn Racing Iveco) and Norbert Kiss (Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz) broke free of fifth placed Steffi Halm who didn’t seem to enjoy the same pace as she had yesterday.
The quartet circulated nose-to-tail for the final half of the race but none of them were able to make a move on their direct rivals.
The only real chance came on the final lap as a slight mistake from reigning champion Hahn almost let Kiss through in to third position.
The result in race two saw Lacko extend his title standings advantage over Jochen Hahn to 46-points heading in to the final Le Mans Bugatti round later this afternoon
Race One winner Steffi Halm took fifth for Reinert Racing, but almost caught fourth placed Kiss on the finish line after Hahn’s mistake on the final tour.
David Vrsecky continued his consistent weekend with sixth place in the No.33 Buggyra International Racing System Freightliner.
Gerd Korber placed seventh for Team Schwabentruck Iveco after a lonely run to ensure he starts on the front-row of the grid for Race Four.
There was disaster for the leader of the Promoter’s Cup class as Jose Rodrigues had to observe a drive-through penalty after overspeeding at the start of the race.
This should have handed a comfortable win to Brereton, who was able to use his TOR entered MAN to hold off Andre Kursim’s Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz in the early stages.
But the British driver was left frustrated after a collision with the chasing Antinio Albacete occurred on the penultimate lap of the race. This spun Brereton around and down to an eventual 12th and third in Promoter’s Cup.
This ensured Kursim took his first Promoter’s Cup win of the weekend and also secure the reversed-grid pole position for race three. The German also reduced the deficit in his title battle with Rodrigues.
Rodrigues recovered to finish in 11th position overall and second in the Promoter’s Cup.
Albacete took ninth position after recovering from his incident with Brereton, while David Jenkins claimed 10th position and third in the Promoter's Cup. This was despite several warnings for track limit infringements.
Buggyra 1969's Lacko and Vrsecky beat Team Reinert Adventures pairing of Lenz and Halm to take the Teams' honours second. Die Bullen Iveco von Magirus (Hahn and Korber) to third place.
Erwin Kleinnagelvoort was the only retirement after pulling his Scania truck off after an apparent mechanical problem on the opening lap.
The fourth and final FIA ETRC race at Le Mans Bugatti is scheduled to start at 16.30 local time.
