The 20-year-old only stepped up from karting to car competition in 2017. Initially, he took part in time attack events behind the wheel of a Nissan GT-R, winning the German Timeattack Masters.
2018 was Citignola's first year in car racing. His main programme was in the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe series, where he finished eighth in the final standings. He also made four appearances in the Audi Sport Seyffarth R8 LMS Cup. He recorded a single podium finish in both series.
