Gerd Körber

Now the most experienced full-time driver in the field Gerd Koerber has a wealth of racing knowledge which stretches back to 1986 when he karted.

Making his truck debut in 1987, Koerber was immediately on the pace and he rose through the field to become a winning contender by the end of the 1980s.

In 1991 Korber took the C class championship in a Phoenix MAN. By 1995 Gerd was knocking on the door of mounting a championship challenge but it all stopped whe he was involved in a series road traffic accident. He bounced back with typical fortitude though and was back racing not long after.

He finally made the breakthrough in 2002 when he claimed the FIA European Cup in Buggyra MK 002. He defended the title successfully in 2003 to take the title again this time in a Buggyra MK 002/B.

After racing for DAF, Freightliner and Mercedes-Benz, Koerber settled with IVECO for many years and apart from a brief break from racing in 2008 and 2009 he is still a mainstay in the championship with Team Schwaben-Truck.

2017 turned out to be a farewell year for the German veteran, yet it was nothing like a farewell tour. Körber struggled to get at ease with his IVECO, and it wasn't until Le Mans where he found his form again. Victory in race four at Le Mans was Körber's highlight of the year in which he finished seventh overall. Despite retirement he doesn't rule out one-off appearences this year.
